This year’s monsoon will see more rain than usual and accidents are likely to occur in some taluks. Every life is important and all the officials from panchayat level should take precautionary measures. Minister Krishna Byregowda instructed the officials that they should realize personal responsibility and carry out their work without pointing fingers at anyone.
Speaking at the revenue department progress review meeting held on Monday, he said, many taluks of this revenue division, including Kalaburgi, have already received good rains. The Meteorological Department has reported more rain in the coming days. Thus, there is a possibility of accidents occurring in some villages of the riverbed, and the authorities should take precautions before an accident occurs. Rainfall areas should be closely monitored. Every life is important and efforts should be made to save all lives, he said.
In some areas of Bidar and Vijayanagara districts, there is a possibility of flash floods in the ditches only during the rainy season. Such floods are also likely to create large-scale disasters. So all officers should work at panchayat level. Nodal officers should be appointed for flood prone areas. The responsibility of the administration of each taluk belongs to the Tahsildar, and they should realize their responsibility in the event of floods and work forward, not shirk their responsibility or point fingers at others, the Minister said.
Rain forecasting should be done to warn people through mobile messages. On the same occasion, more attention should be paid to the Bhima river basin area. Also, pay all cowshed-drinking water bills within a week during drought. Don’t keep anything pending, Minister Krishna Byregowda instructed the officials.
