Yadgir
A forest officer was hacked to death by drunkards in Yadgir district on Saturday. The incident occurred on June 5 at Motagi Bar and Restaurant in Shahapur town. Mahesh Kanakatti, a forest officer from Shahapur, was identified as the deceased. Five people, identified as Raju, Rekhu Naik, Tara Singh, Narasing, and Prakash, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Kanakatti had asked the drunkards to lower their voices as they were yelling and creating a ruckus. An argument followed, during which the drunkards attacked him with a wooden log and kicked him. Kanakatti became unconscious, and the accused escaped. Mahesh later succumbed to his injuries. The police identified and arrested the accused after verifying the CCTV footage.
