A talent award ceremony was held on Saturday at Kannada Kulpurohita Aluru Venkatarao Bhavan in the city for the highest scorers of SSLC and PUC students in the year 2023-24. The event was organized by Kanakashree Charitable Trust, Bangalore. Former Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa emphasized the importance of encouraging talented students rather than just giving them money. He suggested that future programs should be held in Belagavi and expressed readiness to support them, aiming to raise funds totaling Rs. 1 crore to distribute Rs. 5,000 to each talented student.
Eshwarappa stressed the need for a comprehensive education that includes both academic knowledge and general awareness, along with fostering human values. He urged children to become repositories of culture and tradition during their learning years. Additionally, he advocated for respect towards teachers and elders, and allocated a portion of one’s efforts towards religious, educational, and social activities.
President TB Belagavi highlighted Kanakashree Trust’s expansion from Bangalore to the entire state, focusing on various social initiatives including housing projects and establishing banks. He called for collective efforts from community leaders and representatives to build educational institutions, noting the current lack thereof.The ceremony honored 204 students from Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Uttara Kannada districts of North Karnataka with cash awards of Rs. 5,000 each along with certificates. Former MP K. Virupakshappa, Chairman of Belgaum Urban Development Authority Laxmanrao Chingale, Karnataka Pradesh Kuruba Sangh Director Devaraj Kambali, and Rajeshwari Salagatti were among the dignitaries present at the event.
