Roots Bangalore Triumphs In State-Level Football Tournament

In an exhilarating finale, Roots Bangalore emerged victorious in the state-level football tournament organized by the Karnataka Media Journalist Association, marking their fifth anniversary. The tournament, held from June 15 to June 17 at Kantheerava Stadium, showcased exceptional talent and enthusiasm for the sport.

Kannada actor Anirudh Jatkar, who attended the finals, emphasized the need for the state government to promote and develop sports. Football should be encouraged and popularized like cricket, Jatkar said. He also shared his personal excitement, noting it was his first experience watching a football tournament and expressing his admiration for the game.

The three-day event culminated with Roots Bangalore clinching the title, while Mangalore FC finished as the runner-up. The winning team received a prize of Rs 1 lakh, and the runner-up team was awarded Rs 50,000. Additionally, the second runner-up received a prize of Rs 50,000.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by several notable figures, including actor Anirudh Jatkar, MLC Ramoji Gowda, and directors Jacob Varghese, Hari Santhosh, and M. Anand Raj, who collectively distributed the awards to the winning teams.

This tournament not only celebrated the spirit of football but also highlighted the importance of fostering sports culture in Karnataka, encouraging more youth to participate and excel in various sports disciplines.
