The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a widespread protest across Karnataka, culminating at Swatantra Park in Bengaluru on June 18. Their demonstration was a vehement response to the state government’s recent hike in retail sales tax on petrol by ₹3 and diesel by ₹3.5.

Beginning at 11 am, the protest aimed to highlight the severe impact of these price increases on the common people. Mohan Dasari, AAP’s state general secretary, emphasized their discontent through a letter to District Collectors, urging them to reconsider the tax hike for the benefit of citizens.

After the Lok Sabha elections, the sudden spike in fuel prices has significantly burdened the public. While the government rolls out welfare schemes, it simultaneously imposes heavier financial burdens, lamented Mohan Dasari, condemning the state government’s stance as anti-people.

AAP’s statewide protest rallied citizens from all backgrounds, unified against what they perceive as unjust financial strain imposed by the government. The party’s leadership reiterated their commitment to advocating for equitable policies that prioritize public welfare.

As protests continue to escalate, AAP’s message resonates with the growing frustration among Karnataka’s populace over economic policies that impact their daily lives.
