Multi-Storey Parking Complex To Ease City’s Parking Woes

Must read

With the increasing number of vehicles in Bengaluru, parking has become a significant headache, particularly in busy areas such as Majestic and near Vidhana Soudha. However, relief is on the way as a new multi-storey parking complex near Freedom Park is set to be inaugurated on June 20.

This state-of-the-art parking facility features advanced technology and offers a free pick-up and drop-off service for those who park there. The complex, which cost Rs. 80 crore to build in 2021, remained unused as the BBMP’s seven previous maintenance tenders received no bids. Now, after an eighth tender, Prince Royal Parking Solutions Business Pvt Ltd and Omnitech have secured a joint contract to manage the facility for the next 10 years, paying Rs. 1.50 crore annually to the BBMP.

BBMP Engineer-in-Chief BS Prahlad stated that the parking complex can accommodate 600 cars and 750 bikes. It will significantly alleviate parking issues for those visiting Vidhana Soudha, Vikas Soudha, the High Court, City Civil Court, City University, Mysore Bank Circle, Kandaya Bhavan, Chikkapet, and Cubbon Park. Consequently, parking congestion in nearby areas such as Gandhinagar and Majestic is expected to reduce substantially.

The facility will also provide a range of amenities, including free WiFi, a car spa, toilets, drinking water, EV charging stations, a coffee shop, wheelchair accessibility, SOS services, and ambulance services. Additionally, vehicles will operate with a free pick-up and drop-off service along key routes, ensuring convenience for all users.

This new complex is set to transform the parking landscape in central Bengaluru, offering modern facilities and easing the stress of finding parking in the city’s bustling areas.
