Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has boldly declared that the team will not take part in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025. This decision follows their 15th Champions League victory, which qualified them for the upcoming Club World Cup.
FIFA can forget about that. Neither footballers nor clubs will join that tournament. One Madrid match is valued at 20 million Euros, and FIFA offers that for the whole tournament: it’s a no from us. Many clubs will also reject the invitation, Ancelotti told sources.
The Club World Cup has a new format with 32 teams, including the top 12 from Europe, set to compete in June and July of 2025. However, many clubs have criticized this change, citing the increased workload and playing days due to the new UEFA Champions League format.
Ancelotti also spoke about Toni Kroos, who played his final game for Real Madrid at Wembley in the UCL final. He mentioned that the club’s doors will always be open for the German midfielder.
I told Toni Kroos that if he changes his mind, he only needs to call, and we’ll start again, Ancelotti added.
Kroos, one of football’s most decorated players, will be remembered for his exceptional vision and game reading. Having won every possible trophy except the European Championship, the 34-year-old is now on national duty with Germany, preparing for his final tournament before retiring.
