Before Narendra Modi’s third consecutive term as Prime Minister began on Sunday, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav criticized the idea of a stagnant government, implying that an administration without progress is not truly a government. Yadav’s remarks, shared on social media, underscored the need for decisive action and progress.
As preparations for Modi’s oath-taking ceremony unfolded, newly elected MPs, potential candidates for the Cabinet and Council of Ministers, were invited for high tea at the Prime Minister’s residence. The swearing-in event, scheduled for 7:15 PM, marked a historic moment for Modi as he assumed office for the third time.
Prominent BJP figures, including Nirmala Sitharaman and Sarbananda Sonowal, were seen arriving at Modi’s residence for the gathering. The National Democratic Alliance had previously passed a resolution to elect Modi as their leader, solidifying his position as Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, within the Samajwadi Party, a shift occurred as seven MLAs reportedly supported the BJP’s candidate during the Rajya Sabha elections. In response, Yadav initiated measures to remove these members from the party, signaling a stance against alliances conflicting with the party’s values.
These developments unfolded against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh’s election results, where the Samajwadi Party secured 37 seats, highlighting its significant presence in the state.
