On the occasion of World environment Day, and stepping into 90th year of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Chief Medical Officer Of district hospital of Dakshina Kannada Dr Jacintha D’Souza inaugurated the programme.
Dr Jacintha said that due to alcohol consumption many people, without their knowledge, become victim to physical, mental, social and spiritual issues. AA helps them to come back into mainstream society.
The programme was presided over by Paul G of Uttara Kannada, President of Canara Udupi AA inter group. He requested the audience, who have social concern, to introduce alcoholics to AA. Hemacharya from Sarva Dharma Sangama Rehab Centre was present.
AA meetings, which maintain confidentiality of members, gives effective solution without any expenses, are held every Wednesday from 6pm to 7 pm at the Balmatta Government Junior College for Women near Ambedkar Circle. In this programme several AA members of Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru, Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Vijayanagara districts participated and shared their experiences and instilled confidence and assurance in people suffering from addiction to alcohol.
