SpaceX is set to launch the fourth test flight of its Starship rocket, incorporating numerous improvements, on June 6, as announced by CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. The launch, pending regulatory approval, will take place at 7am from SpaceX’s Starbase near Boca Chica Beach in South Texas. Musk stated on X.com, ‘Starship Flight 4, with many improvements, is aiming to launch on Thursday. He highlighted that the mission’s primary goal is to achieve deeper atmospheric entry during reentry, focusing on maximum heating.

SpaceX’s blog post details that this test flight aims to achieve orbit to demonstrate the ability to return and reuse Starship and Super Heavy. The key objectives include a landing burn and soft splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico with the Super Heavy booster and a controlled entry of Starship.

To enhance reliability, SpaceX has introduced several software and hardware upgrades. Like previous flights, Flight 4 does not require a deorbit burn for reentry, prioritizing public safety while ensuring a controlled reentry.

This mission will advance the development of a fully reusable transportation system designed to carry crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond, moving closer to a rapidly reusable future.
