Must read

In anticipation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s visit to Bengaluru on Monday, the city’s traffic police have issued a comprehensive advisory, implementing parking restrictions in several vital areas of the central business district. These restrictions, in effect from 11:30 am to 8 pm, will impact major thoroughfares, prompting commuters to seek alternative routes during the VVIP’s tour.

Affected roads include Infantry Road, Cubbon Road, M.G. Road, Old Airport Road, and Wind Tunnel Road. The advisory aims to streamline traffic flow and ensure smooth passage for the Vice President’s entourage as he undertakes official engagements in the city.

According to the itinerary, the Vice President is slated to visit Raj Bhavan and partake in the Foundation Day celebrations of the ICMR-National Institute of Traditional Medicine (NITM) in Belagavi. Additionally, he will preside over the 14th Convocation of KLE University and tour the CSIR-NAL Belur Campus to witness an exhibition of LCA components and SARAS.

In light of the heightened traffic activity, the Bengaluru police have issued a stern warning to motorists, emphasizing the importance of maintaining vehicle fitness before embarking on journeys. Authorities cautioned that vehicle breakdowns, often stemming from fuel depletion or mechanical issues, contribute significantly to traffic congestion. Stringent action will be taken against owners of unfit vehicles, underscoring the enforcement of road safety regulations.

Furthermore, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda has announced a crackdown on underage drink-driving, wheelies, and other traffic violations. Notably, parents of offending minors will face legal repercussions under the Juvenile Justice Act, with the commissioner emphasizing the gravity of the offence and the potential for custodial sentences.
