Sidhi
In Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, at least seven tribal girls were allegedly raped by a man who used a voice modulation app to impersonate a female teacher. The accused lured the victims to a secluded spot under the pretense of discussing scholarships, an official reported.
The abuse came to light when one of the victims filed a complaint at Majhauli police station. The police have arrested four individuals, including the main suspect, Brijesh Prajapati (30).
Inspector General of Police (IG) Rewa Range, Mahendra Singh Sikarwar, explained that a girl reported being contacted by someone speaking in a female voice, who arranged a meeting at a deserted location to discuss scholarship opportunities. Upon arrival, the girl was met by the accused, who then assaulted her.
Following her complaint, the police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of Prajapati and his associates. Prajapati confessed to raping seven girls. Four victims have been identified so far, and cases have been filed based on their statements.
Further investigations are ongoing. According to officials, Prajapati would steal the victims’ mobile phones and use their contacts to target other girls, subsequently selling the phones with the help of his associates.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has taken note of the situation and ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
