Union minister Nitin Gadkari refuted claims that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would change the Constitution if it retained power, accusing opposition parties of misleading voters. He pointed out that the Congress, during its time in power, had made constitutional amendments 80 times, suggesting that they were responsible for significant changes, not the BJP.

Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, addressed an election rally in Majalgaon, Maharashtra’s Beed district, to support BJP’s Pankaja Munde, a candidate for the Beed Lok Sabha seat. He criticized the opposition for spreading confusion by suggesting the BJP would alter the Constitution, despite a Supreme Court ruling that only amendments are permitted.

He urged voters not to decide based on caste or religion, highlightingthat the Congress had failed to deliver during its 60 years in power. Gadkari noted that the BJP had achieved more in 10 years, improving conditions for the poor. He encouraged voters to support Pankaja Munde, indicating that it would enable him to address local issues like ring roads and flyovers.

Gadkari also mentioned that CNG-powered two-wheelers are now being produced, and sugar factories will soon get licenses to establish ethanol pumps for fuel. He added that farmers will soon be able to produce aviation fuel and bio-bitumen from agricultural waste.
