Not Even Extreme Heat Could Stop Voters From Casting Their Votes: Anurag Thakur

Hamirpur

Union Minister Anurag Thakur, BJP candidate from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, encouraged voters to turn out for the Lok Sabha elections despite the heat. He said that nothing should stop voters from choosing the 18th Lok Sabha in the world’s largest democracy. He stressed the importance of youth participation, urging them to take part in shaping India’s future.

I urge young people to vote in large numbers. This opportunity comes every five years, so let’s make it count by voting and helping build a better nation, Thakur said. On X (formerly Twitter), he posted, Friday is the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. I ask all voters to exercise their right to vote, inspire others to do the same, and contribute to building a strong and capable India.

Thakur also criticized Congress, pointing out the party’s history of imposing an emergency and saying they have no right to lecture on democracy. He mentioned that Congress was in power for 60 years, and Indira Gandhi’s emergency left lasting scars on India’s democratic fabric.

Himachal Pradesh has four Lok Sabha seats—Hamirpur, Mandi, Shimla, and Kangra. The BJP won all four in the 2019 elections. Elections for these Lok Sabha seats and by-polls for six assembly constituencies are set for June 1.
