Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remarked on Monday that the upcoming Lok Sabha election is about protecting India’s Constitution, which he claims the BJP and RSS aim to change. Speaking at a public meeting in Jobat town, in Madhya Pradesh’s Alirajpur district, Gandhi laid out the Congress party’s key proposals and criticisms of the BJP’s agenda.
Gandhi highlighted that the Congress, if elected, would remove the 50 percent cap on reservation, citing the need for broader representation. He also reiterated his call for a caste census, asserting that it would reveal the true socio-economic status of different groups and reshape the nation’s politics.
This election is about saving our Constitution. The BJP and RSS are trying to change it, but the Congress and the opposition INDIA alliance are working to protect it, Gandhi stated. He added that the BJP’s goal of winning over 400 Lok Sabha seats is unrealistic, predicting they would not secure more than 150 seats.
Gandhi also introduced the ‘Pehli Naukri Pakki’ program, designed to provide one-year apprenticeships in various companies, followed by job placements. During training, youth would receive a stipend of Rs 8,500 per month. Additionally, Gandhi mentioned a proposed scheme that would provide Rs 8,500 per month to women to enhance their financial independence.
