Belagavi

In Belagavi, BJP candidate Jagdish Shettar exercised his voting rights for the first time on Tuesday, shifting from his previous constituency of Hubli. Accompanied by his daughter-in-law Shraddha Shettar and Member of Parliament Mangala Angadi, Shettar cast his vote at the Government Model Kannada Primary School (No. 26) in Vishveshwaraiah Nagar, queuing up like other voters. He displayed a victory sign upon exiting the polling station.

Addressing the media afterward, Shettar noted the significant voter turnout and heightened awareness about the importance of voting. He criticized certain parties for relying solely on monetary distribution to sway voters in the final days before the election, emphasizing that such tactics were being rejected by the electorate. Shettar emphasized the necessity for a democratic system to prioritize informing voters about achievements and development initiatives, rather than resorting to distributing money out of fear of failure.

MP Mangala Angadi echoed Shettar’s observations, remarking on the positive response to voting across various areas. She highlighted Shettar’s track record as a two-time district in-charge minister, noting his numerous development projects in Belagavi. Expressing confidence in Shettar’s electoral prospects, she anticipated a victory with a substantial margin of votes.

Shettar further demanded serious action from relevant authorities regarding the alleged distribution of money to influence voters. He underscored the importance of upholding democratic principles beyond monetary and power dynamics.
