Karnataka Govt to Build 2.36 Lakh Homes for the Poor by 2026

Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan announced a major housing boost, raising construction costs and promising 2.36 lakh homes by 2026.

The Karnataka government has launched an ambitious plan to construct 2.36 lakh houses for the poor across the state by 2026, said Housing and Minority Welfare Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan. He stated that the Congress government is focused on providing houses and sites to the underprivileged, unlike the previous BJP coalition government that neglected backward classes, laborers, and the poor.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for a ₹16 crore Minority Residential School near Paragodu village in Kasaba Hobli, Khan revealed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has decided to increase the total cost of house construction from ₹1.25 lakh to ₹4 lakh, easing the financial burden for economically weaker families. He also distributed property title deeds to beneficiaries at a ceremony held in the Shadi Mahal premises.

The minister noted that development funds have been sanctioned for several projects, including ₹2 crore for the historic Husseen Shah Wali Dargah and 5,000 houses approved for the Bagepalli constituency at the request of MLA S.N.
