Vijayapura

Indi Rural Police have registered a case in connection with a child falling into an open borewell at Lachyana village, on Sunday. Satvik Satish Mujagond (2), had fallen into an open bore well on April 3, at the farm owned by his grandfather Shankrappa Mujagond. He was rescued after a 20-hour operation.
Deputy Commissioner Bhoobalan had instructed police to register a case against Shankrappa Mujagond, the borewell agency, and other stakeholders, for not obtaining permission from government departments, and showing negligence in capping the bore well.

However, Shankrappa Mujagond had requested the district administration not to register any case against his family. We own only 2-3 acres, and we intended to dig the bore well to water the crops grown in their fields. We were facing financial crisis, he had added.
Considering his request that the police have not mentioned him as an accused in the case. They have registered a case against the bore well agency and vehicle owners involved in installing the bore well.  We will trace them soon, they added.
