In the Marrakech Open, India’s Yuki Bhambri and his French partner Albano Olivetti were ousted in the hard-fought semifinal by second seeds Lucas Miedler and Alexander Erler of Austria. Despite eliminating third seeds Nicholas Barrientos and Rafael Matos in the quarterfinals, the unseeded Indo-French pair succumbed to a 5-7 6-3 7-10 defeat. Bhambri, currently ranked 62nd, is India’s second-highest-ranked player after world number one Rohan Bopanna.
The possibility of Bhambri teaming up with Bopanna for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games remains uncertain, as Bopanna, being a top-10 player, holds the prerogative to choose his partner. As of now, Bhambri has received no communication from Bopanna regarding the potential collaboration.
