During a public rally in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar District, CM Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of pushing for ‘one nation, one political party’ under the guise of ‘One nation, One election’. She voiced these concerns just before PM Modi’s scheduled rally in the same district.
Banerjee highlighted the BJP’s agenda, stating, The BJP’s aim is to establish a system where only one political party dominates. She also referenced the PM’s upcoming meeting, suggesting that attendees might witness emotional displays. She questioned the PM’s accountability regarding pending issues like the fate of 11 lakh beneficiaries and the overdue dues of the 100-day job scheme under MGNREGA.
Expressing resistance to pressure from central agencies like the CBI and ED, Banerjee emphasized that West Bengal wouldn’t yield. She indirectly addressed former party member Suvendu Adhikari, now with the BJP, hinting at pending cases against him.
Banerjee accused the BJP of targeting West Bengal since coming into power in 2014, alleging disrespect and hooliganism towards the state’s people. She encouraged locals to report any intimidation attempts by BJP members to the police or directly to her for investigation.
Banerjee’s remarks underscored her resolve against perceived attempts to undermine West Bengal’s autonomy and intimidate its residents.
