Despite certain leaders of the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan asserted on Thursday that the party maintains transparency in all its activities.
Vijayan emphasized, we don’t operate secret bank accounts or handle black money. Our funds come from party levies and membership fees, all contributed by the people. Every rupee we receive is accounted for, and we ensure transparency in our financial operations.
His remarks came in response to reports suggesting that the ED uncovered undisclosed accounts of the CPI(M) during its probe into the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank, controlled by the Thrissur CPI-M district committee and its leaders.
Vijayan criticized the targeting of non-BJP parties by agencies like the ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department, contrasting it with the stance taken by Congress leaders when similar investigations are conducted in Kerala. Regarding the ED’s investigation into his daughter Veena Vijayan’s IT firm, the CM declined to comment.
