Fine Of Rs. 200 For Feeding Pigeons

Must read

The Board of Pigeons (BBMP) has initiated a trial to manage the increasing pigeon population by distributing them across different areas like windows, roads, trees, parks, and terraces. A notice board on Race Course Road warns against feeding pigeons, imposing a Rs. 200 fine. This move has sparked enthusiasm among bird enthusiasts.

The rising number of pigeons is linked to heightened asthma cases due to pigeon feathers. To mitigate health risks, BBMP targets pigeon hotspots like Race Course Road, Cubbon Park, and Sanki Tanki Road for fines. Meanwhile, development work on Race Course Circle faces challenges due to the overwhelming pigeon presence. To deter feeding, the company initiates fines. While doctors advise avoiding pigeons, there’s no conclusive evidence linking them to respiratory problems.

It is urged not to feed pigeons in sight due to potential health hazards, especially for vulnerable groups. Designating specific feeding zones can aid pigeon feeding while minimizing health risks. Pigeon enthusiasts lament the decline in city bird populations, emphasizing the need for designated feeding areas. Overall, promoting designated pigeon areas and maintaining hygiene can support pigeon feeding while safeguarding public health.
