After a joint CBI and National Security Guard (NSG) operation discovered arms and ammunition at the home of Abu Taleb, a relative of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Hafizul Khan, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh stated that West Bengal is becoming a safe haven for terrorists. The raid took place in Sarberia, Sandeshkhali, in the North 24 Parganas district.

Khan is linked to Sheikh Shahjahan, a former TMC strongman expelled for allegedly leading an attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team during a raid at his home in connection with a ration scam.

Ghosh, the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Purba Bardhaman, criticized the TMC for permitting lawlessness in the state. He pointed out that even paramilitary forces like CISF and CRPF during elections are not enough to maintain order.

Ghosh also noted that the discovery of weapons in Sandeshkhali could signal a broader national security threat. He recalled that while Shahjahan was with the Communist Party of India (Marxist), he carried a pistol, but under the TMC, he moved around with an AK-47. Ghosh urged the central government to take action, stating that Shahjahan’s associates also had access to sophisticated weapons.

The BJP leader accused Shahjahan of bringing Rohingya refugees from Myanmar into India, providing them with food and shelter, and using local resources to do so. He implied this activity might have international connections, suggesting a possible conspiracy.
