In an intimate address at a preliminary meeting of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes leaders in Hassan, Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna stirred the political landscape by invoking the specter of past electoral battles. Expressing his firm support for Congress candidate Shreyas Patel, Rajanna drew parallels between the current election scenario and historical political contests.
Rajanna harked back to the last Lok Sabha elections, attributing former Prime Minister HD Devegowda’s defeat to the cancellation of Muddahanume Gowda’s ticket in Tumkur. He asserted that the subsequent candidacy switch in Tumkur had alienated voters in the district, leading to Devegowda’s loss.
Emphasizing the importance of Shreyas Patel’s victory, Rajanna evoked the memory of Puttaswamy Gowda’s triumph over Devegowda in Hassan’s political landscape. Drawing inspiration from this historical precedent, Rajanna rallied support behind Shreyas Patel, urging constituents to rally behind him as the rightful successor to challenge the dominance of Devegowda’s family.
Rajanna highlighted the upcoming campaign efforts, noting the involvement of prominent leaders Siddaramaiah and Sivakumar. Additionally, he underscored the significance of garnering support from influential figures like Muniyappa, Mahadevappa, and Jamir Sahebru to bolster Shreyas Patel’s electoral prospects.
