Decisions in Cong are always made by the high command: K.N. Rajanna

Former minister K.N. Rajanna said Congress decisions rest solely with the party high command.

Former Minister K.N. Rajanna said that it is impossible to predict what kind of decision will be made within the Congress party, as the final call always rests with the high command.

Speaking to reporters in Tumakuru on Tuesday, Rajanna remarked, “In Congress, one cannot assume what decision will be taken — it could go either way, just as it can in the BJP. The high command’s decision is always final. We certainly want Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to continue, and there is nothing wrong in expressing that wish. But regardless of individual opinions, the high command will decide whether it concerns the Chief Minister or the Deputy Chief Minister.”

Citing history, Rajanna recalled, “During Veerappa Moily’s tenure as Chief Minister, similar circumstances existed, and the final decision was taken by the high command. The Congress party has leaders who actively participated in the freedom struggle and personalities like Sonia Gandhi, who even declined the post of Prime Minister — this defines the Congress legacy.”

Commenting on the Dharwad High Court Bench’s interim stay on the state government’s order restricting RSS activities in public places, Rajanna said, “Once the High Court has issued a ruling, there’s no point in publicly criticizing it. The state government has the right to appeal before a higher court. Such developments are not unusual and do not necessarily signify a setback for the government.”

Rajanna recently stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s leadership would remain unchallenged if the high command approves the proposed Cabinet reshuffle.
