Kalaburagi
Students of Sharnbasva University and Appa Public School organised a walkathon on Sunday in Kalaburagi to mark the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week. The event, arranged by the Faculty of Business Studies, aimed to spread awareness about the need to fight corruption and protect the rights of women and weaker sections of society.
The walkathon was flagged off at the university’s main campus by Vice Chancellor Prof. Anilkumar Bidve, Registrar Dr. S. G. Dollegoudar, Dean Dr. Lakshmi Patil Maka, and Registrar (Evaluation) Dr. S. H. Honnalli, who also heads the Faculty of Business Studies.
Students carried colourful placards displaying slogans against corruption and promoting social justice. They marched through several streets of Kalaburagi city, drawing public attention to the importance of honesty, transparency, and accountability in all areas of life.
During the procession, students raised slogans calling for vigilance to prevent corruption and for ensuring equality and protection of women and marginalised communities. The initiative encouraged young people to take active roles in building a corruption-free and inclusive society.
The walkathon concluded at Sharnbasaveshwar Samasthan, where the participants took an oath to remain vigilant against corrupt practices and to uphold the rights of women and weaker sections. University officials appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and commitment to public awareness.
The event highlighted the message that integrity and vigilance are essential for good governance and social progress. It also reflected the continuing efforts of educational institutions to inspire civic responsibility and ethical conduct among youth.
