Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said about 38% of the construction works on the flyover at Kalladka Town, on Mangaluru-Bengaluru NH-75 is complete, and the work will be finished by February 2025.
NHAI Project Director Abdulla Javed Azmi said at a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, that out of the 48 km four-laning works between Addahole and BC Road on Mangaluru-Bengaluru route taken up under package-2, about 18.6 km of road has been completed.
The work on the stretch, except Kalladka flyover will be completed by November this year, Abdulla said.
The works on the service road and drainage line along the Kalladka flyover have started, and it will be completed before the onset of monsoon, he added. The work on the Kuloor bridge in Mangaluru City will be completed by June.
Meanwhile, additional land is required for taking up the work on vehicular overpass at Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT) in the city. The KPT authorities have written to the Commissioner of Technical Education for an approval to sanction land, said the Project Director.
On another proposal of the NHAI to develop a vehicular overpass at Nanthoor junction in the city, the officer said that a case is pending in court. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, who chaired the meeting, said that the 30km Ujire-Dharmasthala-Periyashanthi road stretch will be developed at a cost of Rs. 613 cr. The stretch from Ujire to Dharmasthala will be developed as a four-lane road. The road will be developed under Hybrid Annuity Model, in which the government will pay 40% of the project cost initially to the contractor, and the remaining amount will be paid in instalments for five years.
