UST, the prominent digital transformation solutions company and the largest employer in Kerala, has utilized its corporate social responsibility funds to establish two water treatment plants in water-locked villages at Kuttanad in the Alappuzha district. The initiative aims to address the severe water scarcity issues faced by the local communities in the region. The lack of access to potable water has been a persistent challenge, leading to health concerns among the residents of many villages in Kuttanad. UST’s intervention involves the installation of two drinking water treatment plants, providing a sustainable source of water for approximately 1,000 families (around 5,000 people) in Mithrakary and 500 families (around 2,500 people) in Oorukary. Prasanth Subramanian, representing UST, expressed satisfaction in contributing to resolving the prolonged water scarcity crisis in the area. The comprehensive water treatment plants include various components such as a well, pre-filtration and chlorination tank, iron and unwanted minerals filter, reverse osmosis process, carbon filter, UV filter, supply tank, and plant room. This initiative reflects UST’s commitment to community welfare and addressing critical environmental challenges.
