Sri Sugunendra Thirtha swamiji of Udupi Sri Puthige Mutt has initiated the ‘Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna’ as part of his fourth Paryaya that commences from January 18, 2024 to January 17, 2026.
The seer, who will ascend the Paryaya Peeta at Udupi Shri Krishna Mutt on January 18, told media persons on the sidelines of a Guruvandana Tulabhara offered to him, that it is planned to offer one crore handwritten Bhagavad Gitas to Udupi Sri Krishna through Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna. He declared his fourth Paryaya as Vishwa Gita Paryaya to worship and adore Lord through the Bhagavad Gita itself.
Devotees may participate in the Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna by collecting Bhagavad Gita and notebooks from the mutt. Later, they must write the slokas of the Bhagavad Gita, and the handwritten copies should be submitted or sent to the mutt before January 17, 2026. We have plans to make one crore devotees participate in the yajna, said the seer, who had earlier conducted Laksha Gita Lekhana Yajna during his second Paryaya. The seer said he has also decided to offer a Parthasarathi Suvarna Ratha as a token of his gratitude to Sri Krishna, to mark the completion of his 50 years of sanyasa life. He will launch Akhanda Gita Parayana, dawn-to-dusk Gita chanting every day by devotees continuously for two years of his Paryaya period. Similarly, he will also be offering unique Bhagavad Gita Maha Yaga along with organising international Gita conference. Programmes like discourses, competitions, debates and camps are organised on Gita throughout the Paryaya. A Swagatham Krishna mahadwara will be created with the idol of Sri Madhwacharya carrying Krishna at Kalsanka, he said.
