Reports have surfaced that Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is constructing a top-secret $100 million mansion in Hawaii, equipped with a substantial underground bunker. The extensive compound, spanning approximately 1,400 acres on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, is outlined in public documents obtained by Wired. The mansion complex is set to include over a dozen buildings, boasting an impressive 30 bedrooms and 30 bathrooms. Notably, a sprawling 5,000-square-foot bunker, featuring its own power source, is part of the intricate design. The property will also showcase a wooded area adorned with 11 treehouses interconnected by rope bridges, adding a unique touch to the lavish residence. However, the project is shrouded in secrecy, and workers are reportedly bound by strict confidentiality. A former contractor likened it to a fight club, emphasizing the prohibition on discussing the project. Disclosing details to the media on-site could lead to immediate termination. Known as Koolau Ranch, Zuckerberg’s property goes beyond a personal vacation home. The compound, centered around two mansions with a total floor area comparable to a professional football field (57,000 square feet), features multiple elevators, offices, conference rooms, and an industrial-sized kitchen. The scale of the project hints at its potential for hosting corporate events, as Zuckerberg has reportedly already done twice. The compound is designed to be self-sufficient, with its own 55-foot diameter, 18-foot-tall water tank and pump system. The property, sprawling across 1,400 acres, engages in ranching and agriculture to produce a variety of food. As Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan continue to develop this expansive property, it stands as one of the most expensive and enigmatic residences globally.
