Ambala
As part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of SQN 5, the Indian Air Force hosts an air show at the Air Force Station in Ambala. A spectacular air display featuring the Suryakiran Aerobatics Team, the Aakashganga para-diving team, and formations of Rafale and Jaguar aircraft was presented to the audience during this event.
The Tuskers, also known as No. 5 Squadron Air Force, have served for 75 illustrious years. Today at Air Force Station Ambala, the Squadron celebrated its Platinum Jubilee to honor the accomplishment.
Veterans and active duty members who had served in the squadron throughout its illustrious history attended the ceremony. Commodore Commandant of the Squadron Air Marshal Tejinder Singh released a special postal cover on this occasion.
In elaborating on the history of 5 Sdn, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh stated that TUSKERS, outfitted with B-24 Liberator heavy bomber aircraft, were established at Kanpur on November 02, 1948, under the command of Wg Cdr JRS Danny Dantra.
Whether in the Operations in the Congo, the 1965 War with Pakistan, or the 1971 War for the Liberation of Bangladesh, the Squadron has played a crucial role in defending the skies and maintaining the dignity of the country.
Through their outstanding professionalism in representing the Indian Air Force abroad in various exercises with foreign air forces, including Cope Thunder, Red Flag 2014, and Cope India-2018, the Tuskers have proven their mettle over the years.
