He was speaking at a meeting of Revenue Department Principal Secretary  (Disaster Management) V Rashmi and other officials on Friday.

Minister Krishna Byregowda gave a strict instruction in the meeting, Deputy Commissioners should first identify the villages with drinking water problems. In such villages, private bore wells should be purchased and water should be supplied within 24 hours wherever there is a water problem, he suggested.

The price for purchase of bore well should be fixed under the guidance of the Commissioner. If water is to be supplied by tanker, invite tender, pay the bill within 15 days. Zilla Panchayats, Taluk Panchayats and Gram Panchayats can utilise the funds in their accounts. He said that there is money in the Deputy Commissioner’s account for drinking water and this can be used.

Deputy Commissioners should take all these measures as a precautionary measure. Also, it should be ensured that there is no shortage of fodder. Free fodder kits have been given to farmers who already have access to water and there is no shortage of fodder in the state at present. However, he said, ensure that the fodder of the state is not smuggled to the neighboring state.
