A scheduled technical overhaul is set to impact online services across 98 cities encompassed by 5 Eskoms in the state for three days starting today. Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) announced a temporary closure of all online services from 12 noon today until 11:59 am after three days. The initiative aims to integrate the five Eskoms under one umbrella through the R-APDRP (Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program). Officials are in the process of migrating data from various portals to the new unified platform, necessitating the suspension of both online and offline services. Consequently, activities like electricity bill payments and online applications for new connections will remain inaccessible during this period. Customers across BESCOM, Mescom, Gescom, and Hescom regions may encounter inconveniences due to this disruption. This temporary setback compounds the ongoing challenges faced by individuals coping with power cuts and load shedding, further exacerbating service availability within the Eskoms’ coverage areas. Normal service operations are expected to resume promptly after the conclusion of the technical maintenance. A recent operation conducted by the Lokayukta Police resulted in the arrest of Bescom’s Chief General Manager Nagaraj and driver Muralikrishna on bribery charges. The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by electrical contractor BN Pratap, who reported attempts to solicit bribes for facilitating electricity connection alterations. The complainant, refusing to succumb to the demands, reported the incident to the Lokayukta. In a sting operation, Muralikrishna was apprehended while accepting a bribe of ₹7.50 lakh on behalf of Nagaraj. The Lokayukta Police confirmed taking legal action against the accused individuals involved in this corruption case.
