Following the footsteps of Chennai and Delhi metros, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has greenlit cinema and serial shootings within its premises. This move marks a significant shift, as the metro, once a backdrop for Tollywood and Bollywood, will now grace the screens of Kannada movies and serials. The Kannada film industry had long advocated for this opportunity, which was previously unforthcoming. BMRCL has now granted permission for movie shoots under specified regulations. The guidelines stipulate stringent measures to ensure a seamless shooting experience without disrupting passenger services. Precautions include avoiding disturbances to commuters, safeguarding against any potential damage during filming in trains or stations, and adhering to the script. The safety of both the film crew and passengers remains a priority, prompting the deployment of additional police and home guards for security during shoots. Moreover, BMRCL has set a daily shooting rate of Rs 6 lakh for both metro stations and trains. To encourage Kannada cinema, a 25% discount is applicable, provided the shoots are concluded within a month. Meanwhile, other language films must seek permission within fifty days. The streamlined procedure invites movie and serial teams eager to film in the Metro to apply to BMRCL, provided all outlined regulations are diligently followed. This step not only opens new vistas for the Kannada film industry but also bridges the gap between cinematic artistry and public infrastructure.
