A troubling incident has come to light in Bengaluru involving a 40-year-old principal from a PU College accused of sexually harassing a 16-year-old female student. The case stemmed from a complaint filed by the girl’s mother with the Vyalikaval police. Allegedly, the principal summoned the student to his office under the pretext of discussing academic matters and purportedly committed the offense. Legal action has been initiated against the principal under the Sexual Harassment Act, leading to the registration of an FIR (First Information Report). Notices have been issued to both parties involved. However, the investigation faces challenges as the CCTV footage available pertains only to the principal’s office, lacking coverage in his personal room. Meanwhile, the student underwent a medical examination at KC General Hospital. This distressing incident calls for stringent measures to ensure the safety and protection of students within educational institutions. In another distressing event in Bangalore, Madan Kumar, a lecturer at a private college in Yalahanka, faced arrest for allegedly sexually harassing a female student. The arrest was made by the Gangammanagudi police following a complaint lodged by a student seeking part-time employment. The incident unfolded when the accused lured the student under the guise of offering a job opportunity. Taking advantage of the situation, he subjected the student to exploitation, recording the incident and subsequently using it for blackmail. Faced with continuous harassment, the student took the courageous step of filing a complaint at the Gangammanagudi police station, resulting in the arrest of Madan Kumar. This incident underscores the critical need for robust measures to safeguard individuals, particularly within academic settings, from such predatory behavior.
