Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, stating that the chances for the Congress to win even one seat are slim. Addressing reporters, Hazarika asserted, There are 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam. The situation of Congress is pathetic in at least 12 seats. The BJP will easily win those seats. The Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) have slim chances of winning the remaining two. While acknowledging the strength of AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal in the Dhubri seat, Hazarika indicated that the BJP remains strong in other constituencies. He also commented on the potential candidacy of Assam Congress president Bhupen Borah in the newly created Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat, suggesting that Borah would face a significant defeat if he contested. Hazarika’s remarks highlight the political dynamics in Assam as parties gear up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
