Eric Garcetti, the U.S. Ambassador to India, emphasized that the United States views India not only as a strategic partner but also as a pivotal player in the global discourse to address pressing issues and usher in lasting peace. Speaking on the India-U.S. 2+2 Ministerial dialogue, Garcetti highlighted the deepening relationship between the two nations, citing multiple visits by high-ranking officials and a commitment to safeguarding a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific. Garcetti underscored the significance of operational-level cooperation between the U.S. and Indian militaries, involving intelligence sharing and joint military exercises on a larger scale. The recently concluded 2+2 dialogue, according to Garcetti, reflects the commitment to fostering this collaboration and addressing geopolitical challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. The Ambassador also mentioned discussions on the tragic humanitarian consequences of conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East during the 2+2 dialogue. He reiterated the joint commitment to stand with Israel against terrorism while emphasizing efforts to alleviate civilian suffering and adhere to international humanitarian law. Garcetti further revealed that the U.S. and India are exploring ways to deepen science and technology partnerships, harnessing technology for the global good. Regarding U.S. investments in India, he mentioned upcoming visits in December and January for major investments in Indian technology by U.S. private sector companies, particularly in areas like semiconductors. The Ambassador concluded by expressing optimism about the continued growth and strengthening of bilateral relations between the U.S. and India.
