Madikeri Dasara has its own history, which includes harmony and brotherhood along with religious and cultural events, said UT Khader, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
He spoke at the Vijayadashami programme held at the Gandhi Maidan Art Festival Forum in the city.
Dasara festival embodies unity and brotherhood among everyone. Speaker said that it is special for everyone to participate in Dasara.
In the constitution of the nation, equal opportunities have been provided for everyone and everyone should try to use them to become mainstream. Nothing can be achieved by hatred, jealousy, impatience, intolerance. UT Khader asserted that a good life can be built when everyone lives in brotherhood.
District in-charge Minister NS Boseraju said that despite the drought in the current year, the Government has released more grants and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has responded to Madikeri Dasara.
MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda said that this time it has been declared as drought due to less rain. He announced on the same occasion that efforts will be made to construct a permanent stage at Gandhi Maidan by saving Rs 20-30 lakh from the grant released for Dasara programme.
The priority is to provide basic facilities such as drinking water, electricity connection, roads etc. to every citizen and respond to people’s problems. MLAs expressed their opinion that tourism should be developed along with agriculture in Kodagu district.
