ICATT’s Life-Saving Mission: Team Flies Critical Patient From Israel

Must read

In a remarkable feat, a 50-year-old woman and her husband, who had embarked on a journey to Israel for specialized medical treatment mere hours before a Hamas attack, were safely transported from Tel Aviv to Bengaluru via a special flight equipped with advanced medical facilities. The International Critical Care Air Transfer Team (ICATT), based in Yelahanka, was at the heart of this life-saving operation. The co-founders of ICATT provided insights into this exceptional rescue mission. Driven by a distress call from the woman’s family, who reported her deteriorating condition, the ICATT team swiftly secured the necessary clearances, including route and airspace permissions to facilitate her transfer to Bengaluru. Essential medical equipment for the air ambulance was promptly prepared. Dr. Shalini Nalvad, one of the co-founders, explained that the patient was accommodated on a morning flight, accompanied by the skilled ICATT medical team. To facilitate this high-stakes mission, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ramachandra Reddy and Chief Paramedic Ratnakar Ravuri were granted special aero medical visas by the Deputy High Commission in Israel. The process was executed with impressive efficiency, taking only three hours, according to Rahul Singh Sardar, another co-founder of ICATT. Originally scheduled to depart from Bangalore, the patient encountered technical issues with her emergency flight. As a result, she was rerouted to Goa and subsequently embarked on another flight to Abu Dhabi. Finally, on October 5, the aircraft arrived in Tel Aviv. The ICATT team stationed there ensured the stabilization of the patient’s health before her safe transfer to Bengaluru on October 6. Subsequently, a ground ambulance transported her to Manipal Hospital. The exemplary coordination and swiftness exhibited by ICATT in this life-saving mission underscore the organization’s commitment to delivering critical care and medical assistance, even in the face of challenging circumstances.
