In a harrowing incident near Garvebhavipalya, a group of five assailants broke into a residence, robbing three occupants, including a woman, on a Monday afternoon. The brazen robbery occurred between 3.30 pm and 4 pm. During the incident, the criminals forcibly abducted one of the victims, who was later extorted for a sum of Rs 5 lakh. To ensure compliance, two of the robbers remained inside the house with the victim, while the rest made their way to an auto. As the auto traveled towards Nilgiri grove and subsequently to Kudlu Gate, the abducted individual, under duress, managed to alert a friend who was approaching the scene. Desperate for assistance, he raised the alarm when the friend neared the auto. In response, the fleeing culprits urgently contacted their accomplices at the house, instructing them to make their escape. The audacious thieves managed to abscond with valuable gold jewelry and mobile phones. However, the police swiftly apprehended all of the culprits, three of whom had prior criminal records as rowdy sheeters. The following day, one of the victims, GB Satish, a resident of New Mico Layout, lodged a formal complaint with the police. Satish recounted the terrifying ordeal, explaining that he had been visiting a relative’s home for dinner in the company of his friend, Ravi, when the assailants forcibly entered the residence. During the robbery, Satish was relieved of belongings valued at approximately Rs 1.95 lakh. He was then taken hostage. When he resisted the criminals, he was assaulted with a tube light. The abducted victim was transported to Bommanahalli Circle, and subsequently to Kudlu Gate, where he was provided with a phone to arrange for the ransom. Seizing an opportunity, he stepped out of the auto and fortuitously encountered his approaching friend, leading to a dramatic cry for help.
