BELAGAVI
In a town where no one has ever boarded a plane, the dream of flying remains far out of reach due to financial constraints. However, one teacher made that dream come true for 17 students from Sonatti Government Senior Primary Kannada School. Teacher Prakash Deyannavara organized a special trip to Hyderabad, covering most of the expenses himself.
A year ago, Prakash promised his students that he would take them on an air trip to encourage school attendance. True to his word, on Thursday, 17 girls flew from Belagavi Sambra Airport to Hyderabad. The excited parents saw their children off, happy to see them embark on this unique experience.
The total cost of the trip amounted to Rs. 2.50 lakh, with Prakash contributing Rs. 2 lakh, while the remaining Rs. 50,000 was collected from the students at Rs. 3,000 each. The trip was reserved for those who had shown consistent attendance at school.
During the two-day trip, the students visited prominent Hyderabad landmarks, including Ramojirao Film City, Charminar, Golconda Fort, and the Salar Jung Museum.
Teacher Eranna Deyannavara explained that education is often not prioritized in rural areas, which leads to low attendance. However, by offering this opportunity, they sparked interest and saw a noticeable increase in student participation.
