Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on Monday said he has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention in the Cauvery water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He did not blame the Supreme Court for the verdict to release Cauvery water, blaming it for the failure of the state government.Addressing a press conference, he said, based on the facts that we have brought to the notice of the Prime Minister, the Central Government should file a petition in the Supreme Court from the Jal Shakti Department. Based on the information they have received, is it possible to send an impartial expert committee to inspect all the reservoirs and release water? What is the status of the crop? How much water is there in which reservoirs? You have to realize that. Injustice has already been done. I pray to the Prime Minister to request the Jal Shakti Department to file a petition in the Supreme Court and send an expert committee to prevent any injustice, he said.
