Tourists are unhappy that the Malpe beach restrictions that were withdrawn on September 15 last year are still continuing this year.
The district administration extended the restriction of not allowing tourists to get into the sea, till September 25 in the wake of violent sea.
Scores of people are crowding the beach, especially on weekends. As there are series of holidays this week huge crowds are seen on the beach. However, no water sports or boat ride to St Mary’s Island has begun due to restrictions. Some are returning after visiting the sea walk.
According to Harbour craft rules, all beach activities are prohibited from May 16 to September 15. However, this year the ban is extended till September 25.Rayappa, Secretary of Malpe beach development committee said, the restriction on beach activities that is imposed for four months during the monsoon is extended up to September 25 as per instruction of the deputy commissioner. As the sea is violent, care is taken not to allow any visitors to venture into sea. After seeing the condition, the restrictions will be withdrawn in coming days.
