Four teachers suspended over survey negligence

Udupi

Four teachers from Udupi taluk have been suspended for failing to carry out duties related to the ongoing social and educational survey by the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission.

The suspended staff include Venkatesh P B from Government High School Shettibettu Brahmavar, Surekha and Ratna from Volakadu Government High School, and Prabha B, a lecturer at Udyavara PU College. All four were appointed as survey enumerators but refused to accept their official orders, even after multiple reminders through phone calls and formal notices.

Despite being given a chance to explain their actions, none of the teachers responded. As a result, the district administration has taken disciplinary action by suspending them.

Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T K issued a stern warning to all officials involved in the survey, stating that any form of negligence or refusal to perform assigned duties will lead to strict action. The survey aims to collect crucial social and educational data to support government policy decisions.

Authorities have urged all appointed staff to cooperate fully to ensure the success of the statewide data collection initiative, which is considered vital for improving social equity and educational planning.
