Telangana’s Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has lauded the state’s ambitious ‘Haritha Haram’ program for its remarkable achievements in restoring forests and increasing the green cover with the support of all sections of society. He commended the state Forest Department for its dedicated efforts and urged everyone to work together to achieve the goal of a 33 percent green cover in Telangana. In his message on Forest Martyrs’ Day on September 11, the Chief Minister emphasized the irrationality of envisioning a society without forests, the environment, and green cover. Recognizing the significance of environmental preservation, the Telangana government initiated action plans shortly after the formation of the state. KCR highlighted the visible results of the government’s commitment and perseverance within just a decade. He also noted that Hyderabad was awarded the World Green City Award – 2022 by the International Association of Horticulture for its efforts to improve the city’s green cover, despite significant recent construction activity that had transformed it into a concrete jungle. K. Chandrasekhar Rao stressed the paramount mission of conserving nature, citing the global consequences of inadequate environmental protection measures. He emphasized that the responsibility to safeguard the planet lies with the present generation for the sake of both current and future generations.
