Bareilly
A Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by two men in a hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, and reportedly was forcibly fed beef during the incident. According to police officials, the victim had lent Rs 30,000 to her friend. On September 1, her friend called her to a hotel under the pretext of returning the money. Once in the hotel room, the victim’s friend, identified as Shiftat, along with two other acquaintances, allegedly forcibly fed her beef and gave her a cold drink laced with sedatives. As a result, she fell unconscious, and the two individuals named Nadeem and Shoaib reportedly raped her while Shiftat recorded a video of the act. Subsequently, they demanded Rs 50,000 from the victim and threatened to release the video online. The incident came to light when Shiftat sent the explicit video to the victim’s fiancé, who then reported it to the police. The Bareilly Superintendent of Police, Rahul Bhati, stated that a case had been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including the SC/ST Act, and all three accused, who are college students, had been arrested.
