On the occasion of completion of 50 years of Mysore state being renamed as Karnataka, plans are being prepared for the golden celebration on Monday.
Kannada and Culture and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Shivraj S Thandagi consulted writers and artists of the district and suggestions were taken.
Speaking at the consultation meeting organised by the Kannada Development Authority in collaboration with the Department of Kannada and Culture, Minister Shivraj S Tangadagi said, suggestions are being sought to successfully organize the Golden Jubilee-50 program across the state. A committee of officers will be formed to consolidate the suggestions received here. He said that after discussing with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, the list of programs for the celebration will be finalized.
The artists of 31 districts should be united, the gentlemen who worked for Kannada before and after independence should be recognized and honored by associations and organizations. Suggestions were heard such as border and overseas Kannadigas should be actively involved in the celebration, 50 achievers should be honored.
Kannada Development Authority Secretary Dr. Santosh Hanagal welcomed the guests and gave an introductory speech, a consultation meeting has been held in Bengaluru and Belagavi also to prepare the outline of the celebration programme. He said that the opinion of 7 districts of Kalyan Karnataka is being sought here. Director of Kannada and Culture Department Dr. Vishwanath Hiremath, Joint Director KK Chennura, Private Secretary to Minister GS Madhusudhana Reddy, Assistant Directors of Kannada and Culture Department and more than 400 artists, writers, thinkers of Kalyan Karnataka region participated.
