In a shocking incident, an injured man was taken to a hospital in Ankola from a village where there was a road problem. The patient was rushed to the hospital after crossing the pit about 15 km from the village, which was blocked by potholes.

Umesh Gowda, a resident of Kendagi village in Ankola taluk  sustained serious injuries on his leg when he accidentally slipped and fell on his leg. However, due to heavy rains, four streams flowing near the village led to waterlogging, forcing them to stay at home as they could not go to the hospital. After the last four-five days, the rainfall has subsided and the villagers collectively carried umesh, who was injured through a jowar, on his shoulders and walked about 15 km along the forest path. Later, he was rushed to Karwar Medical College Hospital by a vehicle from Hattikeri village, but due to lack of proper road, he was admitted to the hospital a week later.

Kendagi village is situated in the middle of a dense forest and if you need any essential items, they have to reach Hattikeri village, 18 km away. There is no proper road to reach this village. They have to cross bokale pit, vatina pit, pillar pit and kendagi big pit. During the rainy season, the villagers’ plight is untold and when the streams overflow, the village is completely cut off. That is why, the students in the village are staying at a relative’s house and studying. Some are unable to go to school and are deprived of education. Hence, the villagers are of the opinion that if a bridge is constructed over the village ditches, it will facilitate the movement of traffic.
