The Indian Men’s Hockey Team is gearing up to kick off their campaign at the Men’s Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier, taking place in Salalah, Oman from August 29 to September 2. The team’s first match is scheduled against Bangladesh as they enter the Elite Pool, which also includes Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan, Oman, and Bangladesh. The Challengers Pool features teams like Hong Kong China, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, and Iran. The Indian team’s schedule is packed with matches. Following their opener against Bangladesh, they will face Oman and Pakistan on Wednesday, with subsequent clashes against Malaysia and Japan on Thursday. The Indian Men’s Hockey Team has its eyes set on securing a top-three finish in this tournament, which would earn them a coveted spot in the 2024 FIH Hockey 5s World Cup. Notably, the upcoming FIH Hockey 5s World Cup will host a total of 16 nations. Oman, as the host nation, has already secured a place in the tournament. In addition to the top three finishers from this event, the top three nations from each of the Continental competitions in Africa, America, Europe, and Oceania will make up the rest of the teams participating in the 2024 FIH Hockey 5s World Cup.
