Ashok Chandaragi, president of the Jilla Kannada Sanghatanegala Kriya Samiti, has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, seeking basic facilities for Kannada- speaking people in Jat taluk of Sangli district. In his letter, Chandaragi has cautioned the Maharashtra CM about holding protests if the government did not respond to the demands of Kannadigas in Maharashtra. Chandaragi stated that in 2022, the Maharashtra government had promised the residents of Jat taluk that Rs 2,000 crore will be earmarked for providing drinking water for around 50 villages. People of Jat taluk have been agitating in Umadi village since January for drinking water and infrastructure facilities for their villages. If your government continues the negligence towards Kannada-speaking people, Kannada organisations will be compelled to enter Maharashtra to protest against the attitude of your government, he cautioned. Chandaragi requested Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to fulfil the demands for basic amenities.
